We won GovHack & Adelaide Unleashed Awards!

You may have recently read on our blog about the ‘What Grow’s Here?’ mobile application that we built at GovHack. We were so pleased to be awarded the 'National People's Choice Award' (voted by the public) at the 2014 Red Carpet Awards.

Well, last night the Adelaide Unleashed local awards took place and the ‘What Grows Here?’ project also won the 'Building on Science, Research & Environmental Data Award', and the 'South Australia Premier's Award'.

Winning the Premier's Award

The ‘Premier's Award’ is the top prize for Unleashed Adelaide, and includes funding and assistance to allow us to develop the app further (and eventually offer it as a fully developed, commercial product).

The success of ‘What Grows Here?’ has been widely covered in the media, with the project featured nationally in The Guardian and in The Australian. Locally, The Advertiser (Article One and Article Two) and state government (press release) covered the Unleashed Awards event, including producing the following video below (can you spot our team and our Dr. John Flackett?).

The whole team is thrilled to be recognised in this way, and we’d personally like to give huge thanks to all the Unleashed Adelaide and GovHack crew for organising and running the event, the ‘data guardians’ who allowed their data to be used, and the sponsors of the prizes. We’d also like to give a huge shout-out to the whole Nature Ninja’s team - it was a pleasure hacking with you!
