Dr. John Flackett Keynote Speaker: The Future of Retail Online

On the 5th May 2015, our very own Dr. John Flackett was the keynote speaker at the inaugural Digital Horizons event held at the Polaris Centre, Technology Park, South Australia. John talked about the role Artificial Intelligence will increasingly play in eCommerce and how the landscape of online retail will change as a result. The room was filled with over 100 enthusiastic delegates keen to learn more about the future of eCommerce. The whole event was also streamed to over 500 people live on Periscope.

Event summary

"We’re in very exciting times. Online retail as we know it is about to dramatically change. Advances in “Big Data” and Intelligent systems will change the way all online retailers target existing and potential customers. From super smart recommendation engines (related products) to real-time fraud identification, these tools will soon be within easy reach of even the smallest of businesses.

Based on historical browsing habits and purchasing history, imagine all online stores automatically rearranging their content to suit the user. Even better, the store itself adjusting prices and stock levels based on automatic predictions of user behaviour! In this talk, I’ll look at some the ways emerging technologies will change the face of online retail forever and how you can get on-board right now."
