Refugee & Migrant Talent

Matching refugees with employers

This is the first of our blog posts where we’d like to introduce some of our friends who are doing some great work. So without further ado, let us introduce you Anna & Niary at Refugee Talent.

Refugee and Migrant Talent is a social enterprise matching refugees and migrants looking for work with companies offering opportunities. Founded from the first Sydney Techfugees hackathon by Nirary Dacho, a Syrian refugee and Anna Robson who previously worked in the Nauru detention centre. Nirary arrived to Australia as a refugee in June 2015. Armed with a Masters in Web Science and more than 8 years experience he applied for more than 100 job applications but kept getting rejected for having no local experience.

After meeting co-founder Anna at the Techfugees hackathon they decided to build their own solution to tackle this refugee unemployment problem with Refugee Talent – an online platform where companies can easily find highly skilled diverse talent and offer a range of employment opportunities. They now have refugees & migrants on the platform with a range of skills from Accounting, Banking & Finance, HR, Marketing, IT, Sales and Design and more than 200 companies from government departments, corporates, SME's and startups working with them across Australia.

Refugee & Migrant Talent operates nationally with also the potential to hire refugee candidates internationally with their partnership with Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB). In a world first new employer sponsored refugee visa, companies in Australia using the Refugee Talent platform can hire highly skilled refugees from refugee camps in Jordan & Lebanon. If you would like more information about Refugee & Migrant Talent, you can visit their website to email, sign up and search for highly skilled diverse talent.

What is Techfugees?

Techfugees is a global social enterprise that coordinates the international tech community’s response to the needs of Refugees.
