EventAwareImproving refugees lives through technology
UPDATE (31/07/17): We attended GovHack SA this past weekend (after being part of the GovHack Connections event), and managed to catch up with the Techfugees team RefugeeData who are continuing the development of their Refugees Welcome concept initially develped at the Techfugees hackathon - well done & so proud!
UPDATE (29/05/17): What a fantastic and inspiring weekend. All the teams that took part did a brilliant job of developing ideas to help refugees. Congratulations to all involved, and especially to the main prize winners: Cultura, Pathways & Law Lift.
Running for the entire weekend (from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th May 2017), Techfugees Hackathon Adelaide will bring together teams of people to design and develop technology solutions that improve the lives of refugee families in Australia. This is the first time Techfugees have run a Hackathon in Adelaide, after the success of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney hackathons.
Techfugees is a global social enterprise that coordinates the international tech community’s response to the needs of Refugees. Moved by the plight of refugees in Europe, a group of technology industry people formed a voluntary team to create non-profit 'Techfugees' events, including conferences, workshops, hackathons and meetups with a global network of collaborators around the world in an effort to empower the displaced with technology by generating technology solutions for and with refugees.

Get involved to help refugees living in South Australia
Having taken part in hackathons in the past, we know the benefits of bringing the community together to create solutions that help solve real-world problems. It’s a brilliant way to work on new ideas, meet great new people and give something back, whilst having really good fun. The Techfugees Hackathon Adelaide is open to everyone, so if you want to get involved head over to the event page and register. In addition, because this is the first time Techfugees is taking place in Adelaide, they are still looking for help in sponsorship (especially for help in covering the costs of food for the weekend). If you're a business who would like to help with sponsorship, you can contact the organisers via the details below.
